Each network connection has an IP address. The terminal requires a static IP address that
will not change. Use this procedure to find the network configuration at the terminal
location. You will use the network configuration information to set up the static IP address
for the terminal.
- Turn on the terminal by connecting it to a power source, and to your POS system using the Ethernet or USB connection. The terminal cycles through a few screens until the Verifone 7816 screen appears.
- Press the1,5, and9keys simultaneously. After a few seconds, the Users (Prod) screen appears.
- On the Users (Prod) screen, tapsupervisor.
- When prompted, enter your password and press the greenO(Confirm) key. The default password is12345678.
- On the Main (Prod) screen, tapAdministration.
- On the Administration screen, tapCommunications.
- On the Communications screen, tapEthernet.
- On the Ethernet screen, tapeth0.
- On the eth0 screen, the icon in theStatusfield should be green. If the icon is red, tap the icon to turn it green. If the icon remains red, then there is no network connection. Check your Ethernet connection.
- In theModefield, tap the drop-down menu and set the IP mode toStatic.
- Record the values shown in the following fields:IP address,Broadcast,Mask,Gateway,DNS1, andDNS2. You need the information in these fields to configure the terminal to the network IP address. Tap and hold the scroll bar on the right side of the screen to move up and down the menu.
- Press the redX(Cancel) key. A message displays, "Configure another interface?" TapNo.
- Return to the Main (Prod) screen by pressing the redX(Cancel) key several times. When the screen displays, tapExit.
- TapRebootto manually restart the terminal and save your changes. The terminal will restart and you can continue with the terminal configuration.
