EMV Chip (Contactless) and Offline PIN

For an EMV contactless payment, the customer taps the card on the terminal. The terminal and chip use NFC (near-field communication) to communicate with each other. For an offline PIN transaction, the customer uses a PIN to verify their identity and the chip verifies the PIN.
