A Royal Bank of India (RBI) mandate for merchants and customers based in India, where Visa Network Tokens require explicit permission from the consumer before storage, is now implemented.

Technical Details
  • Two new fields,
    tokenProvisioningInformation.consumerConsentObtained
    and
    tokenProvisioningInformation.multiFactorAuthenticated
    , are added.
  • When both fields are set to
    true
    for Indian PANs within India, the network token is provisioned.
  • When either field is set to
    false
    for Indian PANs within India, the network token is not provisioned.
  • Outside of India, the network token is provisioned for Indian PANs.
