This section describes the types of card-present transactions.
The presence of a card is determined during the card authorization. Thus, the main difference between a card present transaction and a card not-present transaction is in the authorization service. There are three basic types of card-present authorizations:
  • EMV Authorizations: Authorizations using the EMV chip embedded in the user's card
  • Magnetic Stripe Authorization: Authorizations based on the magnetic stripe on the user's card
  • Hand-Keyed Authorizations: Authorizations based on the merchant manually entering the card information into the terminal
This section will guide you through the various types of card present transactions available to you.
