Powering the PAX Terminal {#pax-setup-terminal-power-terminal}

Before you can power on the terminal, you must charge the battery. For more information, see [Charging the PAX Terminal Battery](/docs/cybs/en-us/pax-a77/activation/all/pax-a77/pax-a77/pax-a77-get-started/pax-setup-terminal/pax-setup-terminal-charge-battery.md ""). Follow these steps to power the PAX terminal on and off.

1. To power on the terminal, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds until the device emits a beeping sound, and the LED next to the IC card slot lights. This light indicates that the terminal is powering on.
2. To power off the terminal, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds until the Shutdown menu appears on the terminal screen.
3. Tap Turn Off. A message appears, confirming that the terminal is being powered off.
