Configuring an Ethernet Static IP Connection on the PAX Terminal {#pax-a35-configure-ethernet-connect-static-intro}
===================================================================================================================

Use the information in this section to configure an Ethernet static IP connection for the PAX terminal. This type of connection uses a single IP address that you specify in the terminal settings.
IMPORTANT Before starting this configuration, you might need to consult your IT department to obtain the information required to configure this type of network connection.

Enable an Ethernet Static IP Connection on the PAX Terminal {#pax-a35-configure-ethernet-connect-static}

To enable an Ethernet IP connection, use an Ethernet cable to connect your PAX A35 terminal to your point-of-sale (POS) system. Follow these steps to enable the Ethernet static IP connection on the PAX terminal.

1. On the terminal Home screen, tap the Settings icon. Enter your password. The Setting screen appears. If you have not created a custom password, see [Create a Password for the PAX Terminal Settings Menu](/docs/cybs/en-us/pax-a35/activation/all/pax-a35/pax-a35/pax-terminal-configure-connect-intro/pax-terminal-configure-connection-pw.md "").

2. Tap Network \& internet.

3. In the Ethernet section, tap the toggle to turn on Ethernet.

4. Tap the Ethernet icon. The Ethernet network connection settings screen appears.

5. Scroll down and then tap Ethernet Configuration. A pop-up menu appears.

6. Choose Static . A screen appears with fields in which you will enter this information:

   #### ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

   * IP address field: Enter the static IP address for your network.
   * Netmask field: Enter the IP address for your netmask.
   * Gateway field: Enter the IP address for your gateway.
   * DNS 1 field: Enter the IP address for the first domain name system server.
   * DNS 2 field: Enter the IP address for the second domain name system server.
7. Tap Save.

8. To exit the screen, tap the back arrow until you reach the Home screen.
