Configure Surcharging {#oracle-netsuite-configure-surcharging}
==============================================================

You can add a surcharge amount to card payments for orders created in NetSuite.
A surcharge is an additional fee or charge that a merchant adds to a customer's bill. A merchant must notify their acquirer intent to surcharge at least 30 days before commencing surcharging.
It is the merchant's responsibility to ensure the surcharge amount is applied to the correct card types and is disclosed to customers.
To configure surcharging, follow these steps:

1. Go to the required Payment Processing Profile by choosing ConfigurationSuiteAppStep 3: Payment Processing Profile and edit the Payment Processing Profile
2. In the Surcharge Item Field, choose the line item to use for surcharges. If left blank, a line item named Cybersource Surcharge Item is added automatically when a surcharge is applied to an order.
3. Click Save.

#### AFTER COMPLETING THE TASK

Tax on the surcharge line is determined by the tax setup of the surcharge item. Review the tax schedule or tax code of the item you select, or of the Cybersource Surcharge Item. Make sure the surcharge line is excluded from tax.
